The Oval Body Shape is typified by a rounder body shape with little or no waist definition. The Oval Body Shape has a lower stomach than a Diamond shape.

You don’t have to have a very large belly to be Oval/Apple shaped, it’s just where your weight gains typically reside.

Typical characteristics of an Oval Body Shape

  • You have a large bust, narrow hips, and a full midsection
  • You have a tendency to gain weight in your stomach, back and upper body
  • Your waist is undefined and the widest part of your frame
  • You also have a full, shorter neck and full face
  • Your buttocks are somewhat flat and your legs are slender
  • Your shapely, graceful legs are your best asset

Style Aims

Women with this body shape could create a slimmer line by wearing garments with vertical and diagonal lines, either in colour or style. A block colour all over will help elongate the figure therefore appearing slimmer. Light weight fabric is recommended for this body type as thicker fabrics or textures just add bulk. Shirts and jackets which flow past the hip line also works well with this figure. Try wearing jewelry to bring attention to the face or wear V necks to elongate the body.

Avoid horizontal and small patterns as they will only give the illusion of more weight. Do not wear fitted clothes as it will only empasise your oval shape.
